• The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
  • He causes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters.
  • He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
  • Even when I walk in the valley of darkness, I will fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-they comfort me.
  • You set a table before me in the presence of my adversaries; You anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.
  • May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

“THE GOOD SHEPHERD” SHELTER

To: All Kindhearted People,

By this means of communication, we appeal to all charitable people who want to collaborate with this noble cause of love to their neighbor. Following the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ of ” THOU SHALL LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF”…Mark 12:31. For more than 100 years, asylum, “The Good Shepherd” has served as a shelter for seniors. Initially directed by the religious daughters of St. Anne and presently by the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Conception, who gathering funds from the neighborhood and the community facilitate the operation of the facility.

For over 100 years, the religious daughters of Santa Ana have been gathering funds from the neighborhood and the community to operate the shelter for abandoned or in need senior citizens. The Asylum “ El Buen Pastor” (The Good Shepherd) has been the last home of many elderly people who have been abused or forsaken by their relatives. The Mother superior of the asylum Sor Rosalina Orellana, said “many arrive only with the clothes they are wearing, the majority of the Senior Citizens, were in a situation of indigence, others were rescued by the police or the Ombudsmen. The facility, shelters 65 adults,-33 males and 32 females, 80 years old and higher. The health and physical condition of the elderly requires specialized care. Much of the livelihood of the Asylum, comes from charitable donations of people, as it takes a large budget to meet all of their medical, food and hygiene needs. The facility is operating, at their maximum capacity, currently they have no space, nor resources, to receive additional elderly people in need. No gift from the heart is too big or to small, on behalf of the elders of the “Asilo El Buen Pastor”, we deeply appreciate this humanitarian kindhearted gesture.
